I’m Back!

9 / 12 / 189 / 11 / 18

Very long time no see but I’m back!  I’ve taken a break from blogging for the past year, however, I’m ready to get back into it. It’s been a very long, very busy year and unfortunately blogging had to go on the back burner for a bit as I had other priorities to tend to. In this past year I’ve taken over a business, started a relationship and just tried to navigate life as a 21-year-old.

I’ve traveled a lot in this past year and I’m very excited to share my adventures with all of you. I got to go to California for the first time, headed back to DC for a Harry Styles concert, and visited my favorite place in the entire world, South Carolina. Travel posts are my favorite to write as I get to relive everything I had experienced when I write them, plus I think the pictures are always the best! So be on the lookout for those in upcoming posts along with many of my other adventures, I have plenty of pictures to share with you all.

I think I want to take my blog in a bit of our new direction this year. I still love fashion and beauty, however, I feel like there’s a lot more I want to share outside of those realms as well. I’m not entirely sure what that will look like yet but I’m excited to find out! I’m not the 17-year-old girl I once was when I started this blog, I’ve grown a lot throughout the years and have learned quite a bit through new experiences, I want my blog to reflect that. There will still be plenty of fashion and beauty related posts though!

I’m very glad I’m back! I can’t quite dedicate as much as into this blog as I once did so I only will be posting once a week. Check back soon for a new blog post! Thanks for reading!

Love, Cattleya

My Dream Dressing Room

7 / 15 / 177 / 18 / 17
Dream Dressing Room Mood Board
Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a great weekend. Today I wanted to share with you  what my dream dressing room would look like.
I think it would be so much fun to be able to have a cute ottoman like this one from Arhaus in a dressing room. I think ottomans are very versatile. It can be used as a table to set your handbag on or as a seat to put shoes on. It also takes up less room than a sofa or chair and makes the room look less cluttered. I don’t think you can go wrong with a good ottoman.
A rug just makes a room 10 times cozier. I am not a morning person, so  in the mornings when I’m getting ready, I like to ease into waking up and a cold floor would not be doing that for me. Plus rugs just give a room a little extra pizzazz if you ask me.
Who wouldn’t want a chandelier in their dressing room? Chandeliers are just so girly. I’ve always dreamed up a chandelier in my dressing room. They’re so elegant and make me feel like I’m going somewhere super fancy even if I’m just headed out to run errands. Check out these beautiful lighting fixtures that would look gorgeous in any dressing room!
Another dream of mine is to have a large jewelry armoire. My mom has one, when I was little I would go through it and either try on all her jewelry or just admire it. It was like the best treasure chest ever! This one from Arhaus is gorgeous! I love the mirrored drawers. I have one similar to that one now, only miniaturized.
Last but not least, I couldn’t have my dream dressing room without a floor length mirror. I mean, you already have the perfect outfit, and you would have the perfect dressing room, you would just need someplace to photograph them both. I’m always completely in love with other beauty bloggers photos of their ‘outfit of the day’ in the perfect closet/dressing room.
I hope you all enjoyed my dream dressing room mood board. I want to thank Arhaus for collaborating with me! If you missed my last blog post I will have it linked here. Follow me on my social medias, they’re linked in the sidebar and down below.

My Fitness Tips

5 / 9 / 175 / 10 / 17

Hi everyone! With summer quickly approaching I decided to share my fitness tips. I am not a huge health nut and I don’t work out super hard all the time. These are just the things that I find help keep me on track with my fitness goals.

The first thing I find super useful is my fitbit. I have the fitbit alta. I’m sure you’ve heard of a fitbit before and what they do. I like mine to keep track of my steps, activity, how many calories I burn, and my sleep levels. The daily recommendation for how many steps you should take in a day is 10,000. I hit that goal about 5 times a week. I’m trying to get it up to all 7. The fitbit app is also really helpful. That is where you can check all of your stats, you can even enter how many cups of water you drink and what you eat.

The next thing is something I’m sure everyone is well aware of. That is drinking enough water. I try to drink 4-16oz cups a day. I can always tell a difference in my body when I’m drinking enough water. Everything improves, my energy levels, my skin, and just my overall body. You can track how many cups your drinking through any of the apps I will mention in this post. My favorite way to track my water is through my planner. I check mark off a box every time I finish a cup.

I’ve already talked about the fitbit app and the features on there. I like the Apple Health app to view everything in one place. It takes data from all of your other health/fitness apps and displays all the data in one list. Unfortunately, the fitbit app isn’t compatible with the health app. So you can’t see how many steps you’ve taken or calories you’ve burned.

My fitness pal is what I like to use to track what I’ve eaten. I find it the easiest to use. You can set your goals whether you want to lose weight, maintain weight, or gain weight and they will tell you how many calories you should be eating a day. There’s also a scanner on this app where you can easily scan the bar code of the food and it will tell you how many calories is in it. My fitness pal is compatible with fitbit.

I love S’Workit. I had never heard of an app like this before discovering this one. It makes working out so  easy for me. You first begin by choosing 1 of 4 different types of work outs, strength, cardio, yoga, or stretching. Then from there you can choose a multitude of workouts targeting different muscles and areas of the body. You can also choose how long you want to work out from 5 minutes all the way up to an hour. After you’ve chosen all of that s’workit will come up with a workout for you. Each exercise is 30 seconds. They will tell you what do along with a demo video for each one.

Do something you love that gets you active. Whether that be taking a walk outside, running, swimming, or even dancing. I’m a dancer. I’m in the studio almost everyday. That is where I get most of my exercise from. I think it’s much more enjoyable to exercise if you are doing something fun than spending a few hours in a gym everyday.

I hope you all enjoyed my fitness tips and found them helpful.  If you missed my last post I will have it linked here. Follow me on my social medias. They’re linked in the side bar and down below.

April Favorites 2017

4 / 30 / 17

Hi, everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely day.  As it’s the last day of April, I thought I would share my April favorites. I discovered a few new products this month as well as rediscovering old ones.

Sunglasses – I recently picked up a new pair of sunglasses after my old favorite broke. I’m in love with the cat eye frames. These are from Jones New York.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs – I received this perfume as a present a few years ago. I love going back to it when it gets warmer out. If you couldn’t tell by the name it’s a lovely floral scent with notes of strawberry, violet leaves, jasmine, and white woods.

Benefit’s Waat’s Up – I don’t always wear highlighter but when I do it’s usually this one. I love the shimmery golden color. Because it’s a cream highlighter I find it gives more of a dewy look.

Rose Salve – I picked this up at Bath and Body Works a few weeks ago. I had heard about rose salves before, they’re advertised as a balm that you can put on any dry patch of skin to help moisturize it. I like using it on my lips the most.

Urban Decay Naked Basics – I think I’ve mentioned this in favorite posts before. As it says in the name it’s the perfect basic eye shadow colors for everyday use. You can go from a natural look to more of a dramatic look with just 6 shadows.

Maybelline Line Stiletto – I’ve been using liquid liner lately and loving it. I like to put just a thin flick on my upper lash line. The thin tip is perfect for keeping control. It holds up throughout the day and doesn’t smudge or move.

Anastasia Brow Duo – I had never been much for making a fuss over my brows. Lately though, I’ve filled them in and it’s made all the difference. I’m sure if you’ve been in the beauty community for a while you will have heard of this product, it really does live up to all the hype though. I have the color blonde.

Arrow Endure Mascara – I received this in a Birchbox a few months ago and have tried it out. I have fairly oily eyelids so many mascaras transfer onto to my upper eye throughout the day, even if they’re marketed as water proof. This mascara doesn’t transfer at all. If you’re looking for a good water proof mascara that’s actually water proof I highly recommend this one. It stays all day and looks just as good in the evening as when you put it on in the morning.

Essie Gel Nail Polish – If you’ve read my blog for a while you will know that Essie is my favorite nail polish brand. Well, I’ve recently discovered  their gel line and I don’t think I’m ever going back. It’s super smooth and doesn’t chip for days. It lasts longer than normal polish would.

Sign of the Times – Last but not least I have a song favorite. Harry Styles released his first solo single this month and it has been on repeat ever since. I’m a huge One Direction fan and have missed their music since they went on hiatus. This was like a breath of fresh air to be able to hear new music from one of them. If you haven’t heard it you need to! It’s a bit of a rock ballad and his voice is just beautiful.

I hope you all enjoyed my April favorites. Check out my last blog post! Follow me on my social media they’re linked in the sidebar and down below.

2016 Blog Post Round-up

1 / 5 / 17

Hi, everyone! I can’t believe it’s already 2017! Today I wanted to go back and do a 2016 blog post round-up. I want to share some of my favorite blog posts I did this year. Looking back I think my blogging style has changed a bit as well as the quality of the blog posts. This was super fun to do. I put them in order of when I posted them. If you would like to read any of the original posts I will have them all linked in pink.

Pretty in Lace

This is one of the first blog posts I did in 2016. I love the gorgeous lace crop top. I’m still in love with this post.

Wide Brim Red Hat

I had a thing for hats this year as you will see in later posts. I loved this post. I like the simplicity of the shirt with this beautiful red hat. The snow didn’t hurt the pictures either.

Braids on Braids

I love how this hairstyle turned out! I’ve actually gone back to this blog post a few times for reference when doing this.

Black and White Tribal Print Shorts

This outfit turned out so cute! I’ll definitely be wearing it again when the weather warms up.

Light and Airy Tank Top

I kind of felt like a hippie wearing this with the glasses. I’m still so in love with this look though.

Hats and Crochet Tops

This was a really fun day. I enjoyed writing this blog post. Also, this hat was just so cute!

South Carolina 2016

This could be one of my most favorite blog posts I’ve written to date. It’s quite lengthy but I’m in love with it. The pictures are gorgeous. I love looking back and reminiscing.

Charleston

Everything about this post I’m in love with. The dress. The city. I’m still so in love with it.

A Red Dress and A Floppy Hat

I had picked up this dress on that trip to Charleston that you saw above. I love the color and style of it. The hat goes with the look perfectly.

A Weekend Getaway

This was another fun trip that I had the opportunity to go on this year. I’m not sure why but travel/trip posts are my favorites to write.

Collaborating with The Daily Delicacy

This year I had the opportunity to make some new friends via the blogging community. One of which was Hannah from ‘The Daily Delicacy‘. I loved doing this post with her!

An Autumn Outfit

And finally we have an autumn outfit. I wore this look when I went on that weekend getaway and absolutely loved it.

I hope you all enjoyed my 2016 blog post round-up. If you missed my last post I will have it linked here.

Gift Guide for Anyone

12 / 15 / 16
Gift Guide for Anyone

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a holiday gift guide for anyone. I think these are the perfect gifts for family members or friends.

One: Cable Knit Blanket Throw

In my opinion, I don’t think you can ever have enough blankets. I love to snuggle up on the couch with one. This cable knit throw is so cute. I think it would be a great gift along a with a book for someone.

Two: Portable Charger

I’m not sure how I ever survived without one. These are so useful, especially if you’re going to be out all day without access to an outlet. Perfect for a tech person, or just someone who’s phone always dies.

Three: Macarons

If you don’t know what a macaron is or haven’t tried one, you’re missing out. These little french cookies are heavenly. They have a slight crunch on the outside but chewy on the inside and always have a filling in between. Where I live you can only get them around the holidays so they’re always a treat.

Four: Beanie

If you live somewhere cold I don’t think you can go wrong with a beanie. They’re kind of a necessity when it gets colder. Plus they are so cute! Even if you live somewhere warmer I think beanies are just a cute accessory for the winter time.

Five: Portable Speaker

If you or someone you know likes music portable, bluetooth speakers are perfect! I love blasting music while I’m doing things. It’s just so much fun.

Six: Corkcicle Canteen

I got one of these over the summer and I love it! It will keep your water cold for days. I bring it when I workout, it’s the best. I won’t use anything else now. They come in a bunch of colors, too!

Seven: Polaroid Camera

I’ve always seen these and thought they were really cute. I love the vintage type photos you get with them. This would be perfect for someone who is into photography.

Eight: Monogram Mug

I’m  huge mug lover. I have so many. I drink coffee a few times a day and it’s always fun to have a cute mug for it. These monogram ones are gorgeous.

Nine: Planner

If you read my October Favorites, you will know that I have a planner. I can be kind of obsessed with it at times. It keeps me organized and on track. This is the perfect gift for someone who either always has a busy schedule or just likes to keep organized. I like plum paper planners. You can customize them by picking your cover, monogram them, and adding extras to it. Also, if you know someone who is crafty they can add planner stickers to it. Either functional or for decoration. If you would like to check planner stickers out more, my sister has an etsy shop where she sells printable planner kits.

Ten: Phone Case

I don’t normally buy phone cases for myself unless it breaks, so I always love receiving them as gifts. I think they’re perfect for teenagers.

I hope you got some inspiration from the gift guide for anyone. If you missed my last post I will have it linked here.

Christmas Traditions

12 / 13 / 16

Hi, everyone. For today’s post I wanted to share some of my Christmas traditions with you. I love this time of year, it’s always so special. In my family we are a big fan of traditions, it’s always fun to look forward to doing some of these things. It puts me in the festive spirit.

When I was little my mom used to put up the Christmas one of the first days in November. As we got older, times got busier and that just wasn’t doable anymore. For the last few years, we’ve started a new tradition of putting up the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving. I love doing this. It makes the day extra special. We put Christmas music on and all help decorate the tree.

I’ve always enjoyed looking at Christmas lights. It makes the cold winter nights a little brighter. Every year the week of Christmas my whole family goes out, we drive around and look at lights. It can be super relaxing to do. Some of the houses around us go all out for Christmas. I’ve seen the houses that sync their lights with music, ones that are completely covered in lights, that make scenes, and houses that put TV’s in their window to make it look like Santa is peaking. I love this Christmas tradition.

I am one of the biggest fans of sugar. I’m not a huge fan of junk food and soda doesn’t really appeal to me that much. But if you put a cookie in front of me, I have to eat it. Every year my mom, sister, and I make a few dozen cookies and a gingerbread house. When we were younger we used to put a ton of candy on the gingerbread house, nowadays we just do it for it for decoration. We make a gingerbread house from scratch, bake it, and buy all the candy from the store. I’ve never actually made one of those store-bought gingerbread houses before.

Another thing we used to do almost every week when we were younger was watch Christmas movies. Every Friday my mom would buy popcorn, soda, and those boxed candies like you would get at the theater, and we would watch Christmas movies. This is another one of those traditions as we’ve gotten older we haven’t been able to do as much. We always get to do it at least once though.

I love wrapping presents, I know some people hate it, but I love it. I consider myself a pro. Every year I take a day just to wrap presents. Normally I blast Christmas music or throw on a movie. I love decorating them and making them look all pretty. It’s just a fun time for me.

I hope you all enjoyed my Christmas traditions. If you missed my last blog post I will have it linked here. What’s your Christmas traditions? Leave it in the comments below. I would love to read them.

November Favorites 2016

11 / 30 / 1611 / 28 / 16

November Favorites Hi, everyone! Today I’m sharing my November favorites. I know I say this every time, but I can’t believe another month has already gone by. November was really busy, I’m looking forward to the holiday break and things to slow down a bit. I cannot wait for the holiday season, it’s my favorite time of year!

November favoritesMakeup Wipes

I’ve used make up wipes for a while now, it wasn’t until I ran out that I realized how much I loved them. I used to do a two-step cleansing process to get all of my makeup off, now I just use makeup wipes to carry out the same thing. These by Neutogena are my favorite! They don’t irritate my skin like ones I’ve used in the past. They always get all of my makeup off and are super easy.

Scarves

It’s finally started to get colder here, which means I’m able to pull out the scarves. I’m a huge lover of scarves, especially in the winter. I own them in so many colors, patterns, and fabrics. They make styling outfits simpler with the added bonus of keeping me warm.

Peppermint Creamer

If you know me, you know that I love coffee. Maybe, just maybe, as much as the Gilmore Girls do. However, I’m not a huge fan of just black coffee. I love to add creamer to mine. In the autumn I add pumpkin spice creamer. Recently I discovered International Delights Peppermint Mocha creamer. It is so good! I’ve become obsessed with it. If you’re someone like me you need to give it a try.

November FavoritesSparkly Nail Polish

This was a rediscovery this month. I had painted my nails the other day with this polish from Essie and fell in love again. I’m a huge sparkles fan but I hadn’t painted sparkles on my nails in forever. I think will be perfect for the holiday season.

Laura Geller Highlighter

I’ve used this highlighter for a while now. I love the subtle glow it gives. It’s the perfect barely-there shade while still giving some shimmer.

Fuzzy Blanket

I recently went to a Christmas craft show and picked up this fuzzy blanket. I’m in love with it. The color is gorgeous and I love the pattern. There’s something about a fuzzy blanket that makes you 10 times comfier. I use it all the time now. It’s the fuzziest blanket I own.

I hope you my November Favorites. If you missed my last post I will have it linked here.

I’m Thankful…

11 / 24 / 1611 / 23 / 16

I'm ThankfulHi, everyone! Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it. For Today’s post I wanted to share some of the things I’m thankful for. I have many reasons to be thankful but sometimes I don’t always stop to recognize and appreciate everything I have. So on days like today, where we are all reminded of what we are thankful for, I stop and see how blessed I am.

My Family

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm ThankfulI don’t have a huge family. I can count all my cousins on one hand. But I’m extremely thankful for the family I do have. My parents have always tried their best with raising my sister and I. I don’t think I could ever thank them enough for what they have done for me. My sister is one of my best friends, even though we may fight sometimes, I’m thankful for her. My grandparents have always spoiled us, I’m so grateful for the relationship I have with them and the impact they’ve had on my life. I’m thankful for the relationship I have with my aunt, and growing closer to her as the years go on. She’s the, self-proclaimed, coolest aunt ever, but I do have to agree. I love my cousins and being able to spend time with them. This year we welcomed the newest cousin to our family, Lucie. Earlier that year we found out that Lucie had Down Syndrome. It’s been so amazing to watch her grow and overcome all the challenges laid before her. She has been the biggest blessing in my life and I am so incredibly thankful for her.

My Friends

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm ThankfulI’m a quality over quantity type person. I have a handful of close friends and they’re just amazing! I have such a special relationship with each one of them. I couldn’t imagine my life without my person or my best friend. They make me so incredibly happy. I’m very thankful for them. I know I wouldn’t be the same person without each one of them.

The Opportunities I’ve Been Given

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm Thankful

I'm ThankfulI’m very grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given. I realize not everyone can travel or experience the things I have and for that I am grateful. I am thankful for this life of mine. I’m thankful for all the people who have touched my life and been an influence in it. I’m thankful for this blog and all of you. You all have made an impact on my life this past year. It’s so amazing watching this blog grow and connect with all of you. Thank you for the opportunities you have given me. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my little corner of the world.

If you’ve read all of this thank you for sticking around. I know this is a bit of a lengthy and sappy post. If you missed my last blog post I will have it linked here.
