Navy Blue Stripes

navy blue stripes OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI love this dress. From the navy blue stripes, to the 3/4 length sleeves, to the lower cut back.

This is the perfect dress for those days when you’re running late and don’t have time to put together an outfit.  You can throw it on and go, while still looking put together.

The neckline is quite high, it hits right below the collar-bone, so I like to pair a more dainty necklaces with it. The  sleeves are sheer, but still protects your bare skin from the elements. I paired my dress with some beige ballet flats (not pictured), and a beige trench coat. This dress is enough color for me, so I like to accessorize with neutrals.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Until next time,

Xx. Cattleya

Kindness is a language…

“Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Mark Twain.

You can impact and/or make an impression on people just by what you wear, or how you act. Good or bad. No words necessary. I love this shirt, not only for the way it looks, but what it says, what it means. It can be a walking reminder to the people around me, and myself.

As this top is slightly cropped, and it is winter, I paired this with a pair of high-waisted pants. For going out I added a scarf and a trench coat to stay warm. I like the way the dusty pink scarf looks against the elegant wording behind it. The neutral trench brings the whole thing together.

As I’ve said before these are my favorite boots and I wear them with practically everything, so of course they had to be in this ensemble.

I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far!

Until next time.

Dressy Casual Pink

Have you ever gotten invited somewhere and was unsure of what the unsaid dress code should be? More dressy or casual? I worry about this a lot, and this is one of my go to outfits when I’m in this predicament. Here’s what I call my dressy casual (more on the casual).

I think this look could go either way , it could be more dressy when accompanied with a bun and ballet flats, or more casual by letting your hair down and putting on some boots. I like to go more dressy no matter what the occasion so I’ve paired my outfit with these sparkly stud earings.  My coat has leather accents, which I love, and adds a subtle detail.

Valentines Day is coming up and I think this would be the perfect outfit if you are going out with some of your friends or for going on  a laid-back date.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Until next time

Love Bird Nail Art

1 / 14 / 157 / 16 / 15

love bird nail artAs valentines day is around the corner, I decided to come up with some cute little love bird nail art, that I hope you all will love it as much as I do!

I was inspired to do this design by a card I saw on pinterest, and added my own little twist to it.

Let’s get started!

Love bird

What I used:

White nail polish, Clear sparkly nail polish, Red acrylic paint, Black acrylic paint, Pink or White acrylic paint, Nail striper, and a Nail dotter. I’m using a the #2 nail dotter.

If you don’t have acrylic paint you can use nail polish. Acrylic paint will give you the opportunity to erase any mistakes you might make, and will you a slightly different look.

love bird nail art

First start out by painting all of your nails white. Don’t worry about it being perfect.

Next paint all of your nails with your clear sparkly color.

love bird nail art

Take your nail striper and paint a semi-thick black line going down the side of your thumb.

love bird nail art

Add your branches by painting squiggly lines. Just make sure that you have two branches going in the direction you want to continue the nail art on your other nails.

Paint two squiggly lines going all the way across your index finger.

Add more branches to your index finger.

Continue the same process to  your next finger.

When you get to your ring finger, I finished the second branch here, make one branch quite low and add a swoop.

love bird nail art

Finish your branches onto your pinky nail.

Now for the bird. Take your nail dotter, with the small side, and make a small red dot above the branch on your ring finger.

love bird nail art

Now take the large side of your nail dotter and make the body of your bird underneath your small dot, connecting to the branch.

love bird nail art

Go back to your nail striper and add two small lines to the bottom of the body for the tail, and a small thin line to the head for a beak.

love bird nail art

Repeat the same process for the pink bird. I put the beak going the opposite way of the red bird.

love bird nail art

Ta-dah! Just clean up the polish on your skin, add a top coat, and you’re done!

Thank you so much for reading!

Until next time

Xx.

Blue with Polka Dots

Blue and Polka Dots

I really like this outfit. It’s fun and a bit bright, without being too out there or in your face. I believe if you put blue with polka dots that you can’t go wrong.

I love big sunglasses, I’m not sure what it is about them, but they make me feel like a little starlet when I wear them.

I think that polka dots can be very over powering if worn incorrectly. I like to add a solid, in this instance blue, to a pattern to balance everything out. My necklace is pink and small, as to not clash with the cardigan, but to add a subtle hint of color.

My boots I wear all the time, they’re very versatile and can be worn with practically anything.

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Mine was spent flitting from one place to the next.

Until next time

Xx.

Snow Day

Snow Day

Snow Day

Snow Day

Snow Day

Schools were called off. Roads were covered. I thought it would be the perfect time to go outside and enjoy a snow day. Being below freezing, you have to keep bundled, so I brought out all the winter essentials today.

I added a pop of color, to another wise neutral ensemble, with my scarf and gloves. My sweater is quite light, but adds warmth when layered with other pieces. The boots I’m wearing are water-resistant, so I don’t have to worry about my feet getting soaked from the snow. I am always in jeans, and as I didn’t plan on rolling around in the snow, these worked perfectly. Lastly my hat, I got it a few years ago and it’s one of my favorites, it keeps my head nice and toasty.

Thanks so much for reading!

Keeping Warm

1 / 8 / 157 / 16 / 15

456

It has finally snowed! Keeping warm becomes harder as the temperature drops even more. As we come into some of the coldest months of the year (for me anyway), I start thinking of ways to keep myself warm, without looking like an abominable snowman. My sweater is from Cynthia Rowley and I’ve been joking with all my friends that it ways forty pounds, it probably only weighs about four, but anyways, it’s quite heavy.I’m one of those people who are always cold, so keeping warm is always on my mind, and this is perfect for me. I like to wear tights and socks on those really cold days, so I’ve paired some black tights with maroon knee-high socks to add some color. Basic pieces are a staple for me, so most of the time I make my outfits up of bunch of basics and just one statement piece to balance things out.

Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm!

Xx.

Welcome

1 / 7 / 151 / 7 / 15

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I have a love for fashion and dressing up when it’s not necessary. I always like to look put together, even if it’s just heading out to do errands. I probably own too much make up, and I’m always looking for the next best thing. So I thought this would be the perfect outlet to express this little passion of mine. I hope to share my daily style, some beauty tips here and there, and to let you know when I’ve found the next best thing, so that you can find it too. Stick with me, as this is all a learning process, and please don’t be shy if you have some tips of your own.

Xx.
